When it’s puking snow, waterproof/breathable shell pants are mandatory. So is venting. The Hellbrook Pants from Burton combines both in a highly stormproof design that gets the Burton team through everything from gripping Alaskan spines to bulletproof pipes, and hikes to far-reaching stashes. Test-I-Cool venting (one zip that runs from knee to knee) is like a/c for your lower extremities while the street-inspired Mid Fit lets you leave the MC Hammer look at home.

Burton Hellbrook Pants - true black wax
I am not quite sure on the waterproofness of this product. For the most part pretty good, but I feel like there was a moment when I wiped out on the mountain in Colorado where I felt a bit of dampness coming through the pants. But it was very slight - this is why I have marked it as a pro and con. I would err on the side of pro though.
One other comment, and this is a minor con, is that if you plan on heading into a restaurant during the day and spill anything on the pants, it's noticeable. But who cares, you're on the mountain. I think that the way the pants are treated, though, may make these little spills more prominent. Maybe.
    Have fun.
