Ripper of the Week: Jacob H. | #catcharip
Congratulations to the #ripperoftheweek, Jacob H. of Lake Isabella, CA! We've got a Program deck and a Vans backpack with some gear inside it on its way to you, brother! Check the Q&A below and follow @jacobhavens for more ripping.
Keep your entries coming and you could be next week's winner! Remember, winners aren't chosen by their skill but by their creativity, style, stoke, and most importantly, how much fun they're having.
Hey Jacob, how long have you been ripping for?
I've been skating for 20-something years. I started in '94, so 23 years I guess!
What's the story behind your #catcharip post?
The video was shot at the high school across the street from my house. I shot it myself with my phone and a Death Lens.
Favorite spots to #catcharip?
My favorite place is still my hometown park, Norwalk skatepark. That's where I met most of the people I skate with. They're fighting to keep the park open as I type this.
Any thanks, shout outs, or things you'd like to add?
Shout out to the Kid Skateboards Crew in Bako, the GeeSource Crew in Norwalk, the people fighting to build a park in Fern River and all the ones fighting to keep the Norwalk park open. Rest in Peace, Jimmy Medrano!
Norwalk Skatepark was shut down by the city in November of last year after a local skater, Jimmy Medrano, was shot and killed while defending a 7-year-old from having their board stolen. Locals are fighting to have the park permanently reopened right now. For more information click here, check out @security_skates on Instagram or donate to the GoFundMe here!
