Leo Romero is cooler than the rest of us. It’s not enough that he was Thasher Magazine’s 2010 Skater Of The Year or that he has a sweet Emerica skate shoe that bears his name. He’s also the front man for Travesura, a rising, soulful rock band from Long Beach, CA, that carries a heavy skate influence. Leo’s been called the “Mexican Johnny Cash”, and Travasura was described by one reviewer as “Part indie, part old country, part Desire-era Bob Dylan.”
You can see Travesura up close and personal at Cozmic in downtown Eugene on Saturday, Aug. 2, when they headline the Northwest Jam After Party, sponsored by Tactics, Emerica and Ninkasi Brewing Co.
Travesura will cap of an epic night of diverse music and fun, led by Eugene’s The Double Deuce who will hit the stage at 8:30 with their uptempo brand of rockabilly. They’ll be followed by Seattle’s DJ Sean Cee, a talented mix expert who placed 3rd in the 2013 NW Regional Red Bull Thre3style competition. Sean’s recent mix Geo Metro was featured as “pick of the week” on Mixcrate.com and he’ll keep us bumpin’ until Travesura hits the stage about 11 p.m.
NWJ After Party is all ages, with food and beverages available from Cozmic, a big pile of free raffle prizes from event sponsors and a full bar featuring Ninkasi on tap for the 21+ crowd.
Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets at $5 and on sale now at Tactics, or $8 the night of the show at the Cozmic box office.
