The hooded rash guard provides good protection from the sun and good protection against rug burn. It is very stretchy and moves worth you. The are a few things you should know so that you are not surprised or disappointed:
The toggles do not come tied, so tie a knot at the end the elastic draw strings before you try it on.
The visor brim is foam, and stitched to the lycra, so it could potential rip off if you are not careful with it.
The visor brim is a bit smaller than a standard hat brim, but does block the light.
The white material does show stains/discoloration; and it is translucent.
Surfing in Costa Rica in the winter with little or no tan (live in New York) needs lots of protection for my Irish skin. Hood and visor is great without having to worry about loosing a hat in the surf.
I traveled to Nicaragua and used the rash guard for 7 days straight, surfing several times a day. I had one before when I surfed in Fiji. Both times it worked great. I didn't see anyone else wearing one, and after taking some hits from my friends about wearing it, by the end of the trip they all regretted not having one. Their red faces proved it!!
