I installed these as an upgrade to the basic trucks on a complete board I purchased last year. They made a world of difference. Aside from reducing the weight significantly, they also made turning much more stable and predictive. I had to tighten the bushing a lot to make it a little less "flimsy", but overall they made the difference I wanted.
I have had the Venture version of this truck (hollow kingpin and axle, forged baseplate) and I would recommend these over the Ventures. Unlike the Ventures, the geometry on the Thunders allow you to use a skate tool for the outside hardware, which is really convenient. Besides that they skate about the same. There are some slight differences but nothing you won't get used to within like 15 min.
Perfect trucks! Very light, amazing turning, very smooth feeling. I do recommend using some wax in the pivot cup to take care of the squeaking but youd have to do that on any truck, I'd say even less so on these.

Thunder vs Indipendent

Thunder Trucks Hollow Lights Skateboard Trucks
Skated Indy's for 20+ years. I bought a pair on advice from a good friend. The turning difference was noticeable instantly. Stock bushings are superb, the weight "feel" on my occasional flip tricks was shocking. They don't grind as well on rough ledges/curbs but the difference is easily learned. I'm now a Thunder guy
