My shoe size is usually a 13W, so I was anticipating a tight fit like many shoes. These slip ons fit just right. Great when I need to leave the house quickly and don't want to bother with socks.

Vans Classic Slip-On Skate Shoes
I don't wear these to skate because ...I don't skate.
What I do, however, is live in Slip-on Vans; I wear them whenever and wherever I can. Slip-on Vans are probably *the* greatest Summertime (or anytime) casual footwear ever made ...whether you skate or not. The shoes are relatively light, flexible and comfortable. Besides comfort, what I like most about these shoes is their high, retro-coolness, style factor; you can get 'em subdued or all-out unique. There's almost an endless number of styles from basic black to Beatles to embroidered ...solid colors and checkerboards and all the "special editions" in between. And the canvas breathes ...the better to keep your dogs happy and if they do overheat ...well ...then there's their signature feature; you just slip 'em off or slip 'em on. Make sure to get yours sized right for how you wear them. I wear mine sockless for the most part or with thin, no-show socks on occasion. For me, my normal shoe size works great; the shoes fit snugly at first but break in perfectly. You don't want 'em too big or they'll get sloppy on your feet. The classic Vans waffle soles, besides looking cool, are grippy on any surface, wet or dry, you choose plant your feet on. Even "off road" they hold their own and you'll leave probably the most recognizable tread prints in your wake.
If I had to make one improvement in these shoes it would be an upgraded insole. While the basic canvas insoles are okay, there's no reason why they couldn't be upgraded to a more comfortable level. Also, if you're like me, you mostly wear your Slip-ons sockless ...at least in the warmer weather. And this is where better insoles, ones with some anti-microbial treatment (the better to fight "stinky feet"), or at least removeable and washable, would put these shoes on a much higher plane comfort-wise.
For me, I'm not a skater but I live in these classic Slip-on Vans. They have both a high comfort and casual retro-style factor that goes great with shorts or jeans ...with the right style/colorway you might even be able to pull them off with some casual kahkis. Get them sized right and these will be the shoes you live in.
