Inspired by surfboards from the 1970's, the Arbor crew designed the Terrapin based around the philosophy that more float is achieved by a wider surface area instead of length. Starting with a stiff Single Malt Core, the board takes a Parabolic Rocker shape with a small sidecut radius which makes turning a breeze and gives the board a surf-like feel. Grip-Tech is installed on the edges for full control on hard-pack and firm conditions while the Up-Ride Fenders help you stay catch-free. If you've never tried a short powder board, and even if you have, you'll be hooked by the exclusive and unique feel of the Terrapin from the moment you strap in.
The System: Parabolic Rocker - A "true-rocker" design based on the parabolic arc; a shape that allows arbor to gradually reduce the amount of rocker toward the tip and tail. This ensures that the outside contact points are close enough to the snow to reengage when maximum edge control is needed: loaded turns, higher speeds, and bigger landings. Arbor's parabolic rocker provides an additional layer of on demand edge control without having to sacrifice any true rocker performance.
Grip-Tech Sidecut - A sidecut design that creates four additional contact points under foot for significantly improved, more direct edge control. The new contacts also create heel and toe pivot points that make turning faster and more efficient. Grip-Tech enables Arbor to offer a "True-Rocker" profile with powerful edge control, and thus preserve the full range of associated performance benefits. Grip-Tech also allows riders with larger feet (up to US men's 12) to ride standard width shapes.
Up-Rise Fenders - Up-Rise Fenders are built-in bevels that lift a snowboard's outside contact points off the snow for a cleaner, catch-free ride. When partnered with Grip Tech for edge control, Up-Rise Fenders allow for easier spinning and turning on a true camber design.
3 Year Warranty - Covered under manufacturer warranty for 3 years from the time of purchase! Warranty includes structural defects only and DOES NOT cover impact damage, abuse, misuse or normal wear and tear expected from aggressive riding.
Sorry folks, but bashing your board on a rock or rail does not qualify as a "manufacturer's defect" and will not be honored.
Single Malt Core - Arbor's standard wood core for highly reliable return and lasting durability. Made from 100% sustainably grown poplar wood.
Biax/Triax Glassing - A biax over triax lay-up that's designed for fun all mountain cruising, great to learn on.
Sintered Base - A higher molecular weight, wax-infused sintered base that provides unmatched durability and speed.
Arrowhead Tip Profile - Delivers exceptional float for powder-specific pursuits
360° Full Wrap Sidewalls - An advanced blend of ABS and urethane; deliver durability and a clean, acoustically damp ride.
Power Ply Wood Topsheet - Produced using a range of sustainably sourced, natural wood veneers. The variance of real wood grain creates a one of a kind look on each board made with this technology. Sustainably sourced structural wood delivers improved return, durability, and weight.
