The Emerica Hsu G6 Skate Shoes just hit the shelves at Tactics. One of the most exciting new shoes of the year, Jerry Hsu’s new pro model is now the lightest mid top vulcanized skate shoe on the market. From first glance, the Hsu looks great on the outside, but it’s what’s on the inside that makes it special.

Emerica stripped out all the excess materials and installed an internal welded G6 frame to provide increased support and prevent the shoe from bagging out, without adding excess weight. The new model is 125 grams lighter than Hsu’s original shoe. In addition to the G6 Frame, the Hsu also features Emerica’s signature neoprene tongue centering bands for comfortably snug fit.
The Hsu G6 also has a very unique sole construction. When we first saw the shoe, we couldn’t figure out whether it’s technically a cup or vulc sole. The triangle tread outsole is welded to a G6 foam midsole, then wrapped with foxing tape to secure it to the suede upper. Emerica calls it a vulc, but it’s really more of a hybrid. Whatever you call it, it has the support and impact protection of a G6 midsole while offering great flexibility out of the box. The outsole also features flex grooves on the forefoot for a more natural flex.
To finish it off, they added some sizable mesh pannels in key areas and a padded mesh tongue to keep your feet cool on those hot and sweaty skate days.
Tactics team rider Justin James just laced up a pair and skated them hard for three weeks before putting together a wear test review. He found them to be a durable all around shoe that provided the flexibility he needed to get techy while offering the support to handle some sizeable stairsets. Check out the photos, video, and details now.
If you love the shoe but just cant handle skating in a midtop, don’t worry, the Hsu G6 Low Vulc is dropping Summer 2016 in a slimmed down, low top silhouette. We met up with Tony DaSilva at Agenda Long Beach 2016 to get the scoop. Check the video below for all the details on the Hsu G6 and The Hsu G6 Vulc Low Skate Shoes.
