Ripper Of The Week: Gabe C. | #CatchARip
Congratulations to #RipperoftheWeek, Gabe C.of Eugene, OR! That is how you do a nollie flip right there! And anyone who's skated WJ Skatepark knows how hard it is to go down those stairs nollie! We've got a Tactics Pennant deck, an Anti-Hero shirt, a set of Venture Trucks and some Spitfire wheels and stickers, all thanks to the good folks at DLXSF! Check the Q&A below and follow @cruzgroovy for more shreddin'!
Keep your entries coming and you could be next week's winner! Remember, winners aren't chosen by their skill but by their creativity, style, stoke, and most importantly, how much fun they're having.
How's it, Gabe? How long have you been ripping for?
Damn.. I think like 15 years, too long, haha!
Favorite spot to #CatchARip?
Probably WJ Skatepark since I live pretty close to it, and it's always doope dipping' with some homies.
What's the story behind your winning post?
The homie, Anthony Gomez, and I were skating WH that night after our homie's clebration of life who passed away about 2 years ago. I was shralpin' around that night feeling super comfortable and I was feeling that I could do the nollie flip quick. Gave it a few tries and on the 5th try I almost knocked myself out after landing primo at the last minute, shit was scary! I started thinking about the homie who passed away and all the great times, gave him a little shout out under my breath as I threw down to try it again, I put in everything and I got this crazy feeling of confindence in my chest and started smiling as I was rolling up and POW! It all felt so effortless, I was amped about it because it had so much sentimental feeling behind it. Anthony Gomez (@cyberdrips) started out filming me on my phone but it died and the new homie, Jake Anderson (@jakefromhumboldt) came in clutch and filmed the landing for me. Much love to both of those dudes, gave me mad support!
Any thanks, shoutouts, or things you'd like to add?
Huge thanks to Mi Madre for putting up with my crazy ass, lmao! Big shout out to my reals nruthas from otha mothas, the ones that trul care about me whether I'm in the gutter or up in the sky. Thank you for never switching up, y'all know who you are! The 541 skateboard scene no doubt has some rippers, but ups to everyone! All the homies, y'all know it's all love. Big man upstairs, thank you for the life and for skateboarding, and for being one of, if not the, best parts of my life, helping me find myself in this insane world we live in. Go for broke, hustle hard and leave it all on the floor.
