The most versatile snowpants Patagonia has to offer, the Powder Bowl pants are made from durable 2-layer polyester GORE-TEX® fabric with a DWR coating, offering exceptional breathable waterproof, and windproof protection. All the materials are bluesign® approved, including the moisture wicking internal mesh, and polyester taffeta lining that easily slips over layers. The waistband has adjustable elastic straps to give you a custom fit, and the articulated design gives you complete freedom of motion. Thigh vents quickly dissipate heat, and rugged scuff guards on the insides of the legs and hem protect your shins. Concealed in the pants is a RECCO® chip that give you some peace of mind while you're exploring the mountain.
GORE-TEX® - GORE-TEX® fabric is incredibly durable, waterproof, breathable, and totally windproof. A single square inch of this fabric contains 9 billion microscopic pores—each 20,000 times smaller than a raindrop, but 700 times larger than a molecule of water vapor. Water can’t pass through the fabric, yet perspiration escapes with ease. You’ll find this next level molecular construction on all GORE-TEX fabrics.
RECCO® - RECCO® is an advanced avalanche rescue system hidden in this outerwear that will save your butt when you need it. RECCO® is utilized by more than 700 rescue organizations worldwide to assist in the efficient location of burials. RECCO® technology enables rapid directional pinpointing of a victim's precise location using harmonic radar. Hopefully you'll never have to use it, but if you do you'll be glad it's there.
Fully Taped - Having outerwear with fully taped seams means that on the inside of the jacket all the seams are covered in tape to provide the most effective waterproofing. It can be considered a key feature if you live in a wet climate or are planning on wearing the jacket during heavy rains. The downside is that due to the full taping there is less breathability than you'd experience with critically taped seams.
Recycled Polyester - Approximately 31% of plastic bottles produced in the United States are made from a material called PolyEthylene Terephtalate, "PET" or "PETE." Usually clear or green, the plastic is mostly used for consumer goods such as soda bottles and food jars, but once recycled and processed, it has a wide variety of eco-friendly applications. While recycling is not the end-all, be-all solution for ridding the world of the plastic bag beast, it is a sustainable path for plastic products and takes less energy to produce than traditional polyester.
bluesign® Approved - Patagonia has worked with the independent bluesign standard since 2000 to evaluate and reduce resource consumption and to screen raw materials, including dyes and finishes used in Patagonia's supply chain.
bluesign technologies, based in Switzerland, audits the energy, water and chemical usage of its members and helps them achieve continuous, long-term environmental improvement.
