Overview
If you haven't had the pleasure of skating ceramic bearings well what are you waiting for? Shorty's doesn't even use the ABEC system to rate their Black Panthers bearings, but if they did, they would be rated "ABEC stupid fast and smooth." Push less, skate more.

Best bearings on the market

Shortys Black Panthers Ceramic Skateboard Bearings - black/gold
I've been skateboarding for about 10 years.
I've tried almost every name brand bearing on the market.
"ANY" Black Panther bearing will beat Reds, Bones Swiss, any FKD, Independent bearings, mini logo, and Lucky abec 7's (these are the best on of the list given other than of course the bearing I am reviewing.)
If you do your research you will see that Shorty's Black Panther bearings are made in a certain way that is a grade above all the rest.
Once you've tried these, you will never go back.
I've been a convert since I got a board 7-8 years ago with used Black Panther Abec 3's which still roll faster than the rest to this day.
Worth. Every. Penny.
Please trust me. You'll never regret buying these bearings.
I normally skate a street set up for skating street and the parks (anti hero deck, Venture low Trucks, ricta wheels) but this time I put these ceramics on my cruiser/filmer/hill bomber set up. (Hosoi deck venture hi's 1/2 inch risers & 60mm wheels.) Bonbing hills with this set up and these Black Panther Ceramic bearings is absolutely terrifying fast.
Can't say enough about these babies.

Shortys Black Panthers Ceramic Skateboard Bearings - black/gold
I haven't fully broke these in yet but I oiled them and they roll good. Not sure if they're as fast or faster than stainless, but I kind of miss the sound from my stainless bearings. If you want a quiet smooth steady roll go with these. 30 bucks is a lot for bearings but not for quality ceramics, which these seem to be. I almost prefer the stainless all weather bearings but I think these may be faster and give you more speed to work with. if only I can keep up with skating that fast. Back on it.

Shortys Black Panthers Ceramic Skateboard Bearings
Bought it because they were inexpensive ceramics and after using them for two months, they still work incredibly well and feel smooth. I plan on cleaning these every few months but so far I can't complain about these bearings.

So what is the abec? There has to be something to measure how fast they are.
Answered by Danny M (Tactics Employee) on 9/28/2016
Abec (Annular Bearing Engineering Committee) is the scale used to measure the precision of bearings. The higher the precision the more RPM the bearing can take. Since most skating is done under 30 mph, abec 7 or 9 would be just fine for any type of skating. Hope this helps!
