Special Materials

FUTURELIGHT™ - Using nanospinning technology, this waterproof polyurethane-based material makes some of the lightest, softest and stretchy shell fabrics to increase comfort and mobility for snowboarders. It's one of the most breathable fabrics ever made and it's certified 100% waterproof! Basically, it truly wears like a softshell but performs like a hard shell.

Made with 90-99% post-consumer recycled fabrics + Non-PFC DWR.

Seams

Fully Taped - Having outerwear with fully taped seams means that on the inside of the jacket all the seams are covered in tape to provide the most effective waterproofing. It can be considered a key feature if you live in a wet climate or are planning on wearing the jacket during heavy rains. The downside is that due to the full taping there is less breathability than you'd experience with critically taped seams.

The North Face Key Features

Chimney Venting™ - Chimney Venting™ System dramatically improves airflow through the pant, reducing both heat and humidity while greatly increasing breathability. This system is based on the elementary physics principle that hot air rises. The stretch-mesh strategically placed in the upper section of the leg gaiter functions as a highly efficient air intake.

Lot Lift System - Unfortunately a contemporary, relaxed fit in outerwear can cause the pant cuff to drag on the ground, leading to fraying, tearing and the gathering of snow. Get your pants off the ground with the Lot Lift System, an innovative feature that enables the wearer to conveniently pull up the rear portion of the pant cuff while walking, eliminating drag and damage and increasing the life span of the pant.

StretchVent™ Gaiter - Working with the Chimney System, the StretchVent™ gaiter allows cool, dry air to flow in as heated, moist air rises and exits through the upper thigh vents, producing continuous airflow and managing heat. The StretchVent™ doubles as an effective energy absorber, keeping the gaiter in place while the legs do the hard work in the bumps, pipe, or backcountry.

Material Explanation

Recycled Polyester - There are over 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic debris floating in the oceans. Recycled polyester won't fix that but this is better for the Earth than creating virgin polyester for products.
