Overview
Gilbert Crockett is an all-terrain terrorizer , so it's fitting that the second incarnation of his signature shoe is equipped to handle most anything you throw at it. Vans Wafflecup Construction and UltraCush HD Cushioning combine to provide a comfortable ride that can help withstand the biggest of impacts, and allow you to roll away in one piece. This shoe is the perfect marriage of classic style, paying homage to legendary Van's shoes of the past, and modern technology focused on board feel and cushioning.

Sole

Cupsole - Cupsoles are durable, well-cushioned and provide the best impact protection against hard landings. The sole consists of a single rubber layer, reinforced with glue then stitched to the upper. Cupsoles generally last longer than vulcanized soles, but don't provide as much flexibility and board feel right out of the box.

Details

Wafflecup Construction - Vans’ revolutionary Wafflecup construction offers today’s skateboarders the support of a cupsole without sacrificing any of the grip and board feel of a traditional vulcanized shoe. Now you can have your cake and eat it too. Leave it to Vans Pro Skate to innovate with skateboarding’s first-ever vulcanized cupsole.

At long last, skateboarding’s perennial problem solved: cupsole support or vulcanized boardfeel? Never be forced to choose again.

Molded Heel Pocket Insert - Anatomically molded heel cup inserts are shaped to lock heels in place without the need for bulky foam padding.

Duracap - Vans shoes with Duracap feature reinforced rubber underlays in the areas where your shoes wear out the fastest. Durcap was developed and tested to withstand the abuse of the Vans pro skateboarding team, and gives you added durability even if you skate daily.

UltraCush HD - Vans' polyurethane-based UltraCush HD sockliner keeps the foot close to the board yet won't pack out over time, providing the highest level of impact cushioning.

Vans Gilbert Crockett Pro 2 Skate Shoes - delft/white
Had 3 pairs of the first generation Gilbert Crocketts then just skated through 2 pairs of Kyle Walkers. Made the switch back to the Gilberts from the Kyle’s because 1) the board feel is noticeably better 2) Not as heavy 3) Break in faster 4) More flexible. These are slightly less padded than the Kyle Walkers but I still prefer them. I haven’t had them very long, but curious to see how they last. If you read the reviews on Vans.com, there are a lot of complaints about ripping and separation early on near the ollie area. Hopefully that won’t happen with these since the first generation held up extremely well but we’ll see. Both these and the Walkers are great shoes, it just depends what your preference is. Also, these have more of the classic Vans look which I like.

This shoe is great. It's not as heavy as the Kyle walkers and its a little stiff at first but I love it and I'm stoked!!!

Asked by Nick on 8/23/2017
Would you say they fit more wide or narrow?
Answered by Graig A (Tactics Employee) on 8/24/2017
These are leaning more towards the narrow side, similar to an era pro or authentic.

How is the boardfeel? Im used to vulcanized shoes
Answered by Graig A (Tactics Employee) on 7/13/2017
They will have a little less board feel than a standard vulc due to the Waffle Cup sole that has both vulc wrap and cupsole. They still have pretty good board feel but do take a little extra time to break in.
