Overview

The Range Edition is a special backcountry upgrade to the verse that features an Adaptive Range Mode with a Rear Drop-Cuff that can be unlocked to widen the top opening of the boot for a significantly expanded range of motion. This is a game changer when hiking, skinning switchbacks, or ripping the snowmobile deep into the hills. This among other reliable tech means you can get there with less effort and stay out longer with more protection.

Features

Key Features

Double Boa Closure System - Two reels control 2 specific zones of closure, providing greater freedom of flex and articulation.

Flex Control System - No longer will you be hindered by one built-in flex rating. Their removable high rebound Hytrel tongue stiffeners allow riders to custom-tune boot flex. Slide them both in for maximum support, use just one to increase either later or medial response, or leave them out entirely for softer flexing boot.

Liner

V3 UltraCush™ Liner - Features Van's expanded comfort-flex neoprene forefoot, adjustable and/or removable asymmetrical X-cage for a micro-adjustable fit and excellent heel hold, UltraCush interior cushioning layer, dual-density, heat-moldable core, an exterior support cage, a soft microsuede cuff/tongue, and a comfort-flex toe box.

V3 POPCUSH™ Footbed - Tri-density POPCUSH construction with an OrthoLite® open-cell foam top layer, TPU arch support heel clip, a 3-D molded anatomical shape, anti-fatigue coring design, airflow perforations, and a Nylex moisture-wicking topsheet.

V3 Harness - This advanced support harness delivers Vans' highest level of support to the ankle and instep, keeping the V3 liner and boot shell locked in and connected.

Heat Retention 360° - All Vans boots feature a newly improved thermal retention layer that provides a 360° wrap of the toe box and between the outsole and the liner. This essential layer keeps heat in and cold out, ensuring all-day warmth and comfort.

FlashDry™ - Fabric engineered to act like a second skin, pushing moisture to the surface and eliminating it as fast as possible.

Flex/Response

Adaptive Range Mode - The functional objective of Adaptive Range Mode is to widen the opening of the snowboard boot to allow for a more natural gait and extended range of motion on overland adventures or commuting uphill travel. Whether on a splitboard, approach skis, or just going for a good old-fashioned walk for that fresh line, disengaging the Ride Mode strap opens the Rear Drop-Cuff and two-way stretch gore, providing significantly more calf articulation. This allows for longer strides and subsequently less wasted energy.

PowerCuff Strap - Power is the operative word with the PowerCuff Strap. It provides extra support at the top of the boot for increased stability and response. Its configuration gives riders customizable levels of engagement and the option of wrapping the strap around the internal liner or the exterior tongue.

Instep Flex Zone - Maintaining flex not only in your boot but also when your boot is strapped onto a binding describes the main problem that the Instep Flex technology solves.

Outsole

V3 Waffle SuperEnduro Outsole - Inspired by the extended cross-country and off-road demands of moto enduro racing, the V3 SuperEnduro outsole is designed to offer maximum performance in and out of your bindings. Multi-directional tread design? Surface-level texturing? A TPU toe pick? Check, check, and check. There’s no keeping up with this all-terrain apex predator.

- AllTrac Rubber Compound

- Molded TPU toe pick

- Multi-directional, dynamic lug tread pattern

- Surface-level waffle ripple for added traction and snow shed

- UltraCush Lite midsole construction with mid-foot support shank

- Expanded impact absorption zone

Convenience/Durability

Exocap Molded Toe Protection - A molded plastic toe cap provides maximum protection and extra space in the toe box to keep your toes wiggling and warm.

Waterproof Breathable Valves - These waterproof valves allow one-way moisture management by transporting moisture away from your foot, ensuring breathability and thermal regulation for dry, comfortable feet.

Waterproof Zipper Shroud + D-Ring - This feature is a durable and weatherproof fabric shield that protects the lower part of your boot from snow, ice, and moisture, ensuring easy access to your Boa closure no matter what the weather throws at you. It also features a metal D-ring for securely fastening your pant gaiters to lock out snow.

Best splitboard boot I've tried

Vans Verse Range Edition Snowboard Boots - (blake paul) navy/black
I've been splitboarding more than snowboarding for a handful of years now, with splitboard-specific gear, and this is the best backcountry boot I've tried. The stiffness rating is adjustable, the outer sole grips, the tips kick in great for boot packing, the top rear flap that opens up helps long strides when skinning. Adding, the boot is great for regular snowboarding as long as you're not using the plastic inserts, maybe also because the gel insoles are super cush. I do have to say I have a pressure point caused by inner lacing, but I believe it'll go away after a handful more days.
