These Reissues pay homage to the original high top that first brought the supportive sensibilities of an athletic boot to the world of skating. The popularity of the Sk8-Hi look followed suit, becoming a favorite amongst skaters, musicians, artists, and counter culture types alike. Today they remain in their original form, a perennial classic, built like they always have been.
Original Waffle Outsole
Side Stripe Detail
Vulcanized - “Vulc” shoes are light, flexible and break in quickly. The sole consists of several layers of rubber, glued together then attached to the upper with rubber foxing tape. Vulcanized soles don’t provide as much foot protection or support as cupsoles, but they are preferred if you’re looking for good board feel in a shoe with less weight and bulk.
Original Waffle Outsole - Back in '66 Paul van Doren made the first soles of his new shoes twice as thick so they would wear longer. That decision ended up defining the company when the world's first skateboarders discovered how Vans' Waffle Outsole let them feel their board while staying firmly connected to it.
I had already 2 pairs of 2 tone (parisian blue & cappucino) of different colors & was eager to complete the 2 tone hi with the duffel green! & believe me i wasnt disappointed a bit! Shoes are gorgeous & run true to size or a bit small but they loosen with time; one setback is that they dnt have arch support on these series as opposed to the pro series but the 2 tone color series were a deal maker, prolonged walking might require insoles for arch support. That been said, im very satisfied with fit, classic revived design & trendy colors, shipping was on time & finishing quality good.. One note is that suede tends to fade on light colored socks at initial wearing.. Definitely would recommend!
