I had a pair of old "pain cheaters" a friend loaned me and wasn't sure it was worth it to buy a whole new set of pads when they worked fine. But these really are a lot less hot, stifling and heavy than the others were. They sit kinda off your knee when your legs are straight which is less hot, but are exactly in place when you bend your leg. Nice design, and I really like how the white caps look with a white helmet.

I upgraded from Pro-Tec Street pads because I was starting to skate bigger bowls and wanted the right equipment for it. The caps slide much better and there is significantly more padding (as compared to the Pro-Tecs). The butterfly strap system is much more convenient than having to remove your shoes each time you take them on and off. I slammed sideways yesterday and noticed that some of the fine stitching along the side was sanded off by the concrete, so hopefully that doesn't affect the long term durability. The initial downsides are that they're much bigger, feel pre-bent (like your knees are partially bent at all times), and the stiff padding hurts your shins for the first session or two. Once things break in, you won't even notice they're there until they save you as you're kneesliding out of trouble.

I have two battered knees, from a lifetime of injuries, and these pads are awesome. They protect even more than the standard 187 pads (which are already quite good), but are a ton easier to put on (no need to take your shoes off). Highly recommend.

They fit nice & dont restrict your movement too much. They are pretty stiff at first but it doesnt take long to break them in. They are also on the bulkier side so dont expect them to be extra slim
