Professional skateboarder Andrew Reynolds and videographer Jay Strickland started Baker Skateboards around 1999. Reynolds and his motley crew in Huntington Beach wanted a fresh start with a chance to blend the new brand with their lifestyle at the time; something that he felt didn’t resonate with Birdhouse. And that is exactly what they achieved through putting out “Baker 2G” which exemplified their nightlife hi-jinx behind the brand.
From there, Baker became a home for many talented skaters that didn’t fit the more refined mold of other brands. Baker also paved the way for team riders Jim Greco and Erik Ellington to branch out and start Deathwish Skateboards in 2008. Today, Baker is operated out of Baker Boys Distribution in North Hollywood, CA.
