Note - Every skate truck brand represents their sizing a little differently, so it's easy to get confused. Take a look at this graphic and then reference the size chart.
For how little these cost theyre amazing. Amazing even if they cost more. Just great trucks. They turn really well and are light for how wide I got them(8.5). Definitely recommend Bones hardcore bushings in these if youre heavier(200+ lbs). Dont waste your time with Indy bushings they split almost immediately but Bones are still going strong. These trucks lengthen your wheelbase a bit too which is better for taller skaters. Solid all around truck just recommend swapping bushings unless you like to ride super loose.
Decently light for how wide these are(8.5). Stock bushings are super soft. Unless you like riding really loose, I recommend Bones hardcore bushings if youre 200+ lbs. Independent bushings, even the hardest 94/96a, split almost immediately off landing ollies. (Not the trucks fault just wanted to save people out there from wasting a set) Get bones bushings. Great truck overall and they make your wheelbase a bit longer too I noticed which is also a plus if youre taller. 10/10 cant go wrong with these.

Thunders are stable. They help my flat ground tricks. I rode Indys for 10 years because they have a surfy turn but got back on thunders again and theyre great too

I have a 8.38" deck. What size would be best for this set up? 148's or 149's?

Either truck would work fine but the 149 will be closer to the width of your board and is what we would recommend unless you are considering sizing down below 8.25 on your deck size in the near future.

The Team Hollows have a height of 50.78mm, whereas the Thunder Polished Low's sit at a height of 48.3mm.
