Fully Taped - Having outerwear with fully taped seams means that on the inside of the jacket all the seams are covered in tape to provide the most effective waterproofing. It can be considered a key feature if you live in a wet climate or are planning on wearing the jacket during heavy rains. The downside is that due to the full taping there is less breathability than you'd experience with critically taped seams.

Polyester Fill - Polyester insulation may not be as warm or light as down, but it's far easier to clean and performs better in wet conditions. If cost is a concern or you live in a wet climate then polyester insulation might be your best option.

Insulation Rating (g)

Synthetic insulation is measured in grams, so a jacket with a 80g rating simply means that a 1 meter by 1 meter piece of that particular jacket's insulation weighs 80 grams. The higher the rating, the warmer the outerwear.

Body: 80, Sleeves / Hood: 60

Zip Tech® Jacket to Pant Interface - Nothing lowers motivation faster than snow jammed down your pants and up the back of your jacket. A V-Co patented invention Zip Tech® allows you to zip the powder skirt of any Volcom jacket to any Volcom pant, keeping snow out and heat in with no restriction of movement.

Lycra® Wrist Gaiters - Soft, stretchy Lycra® fends off the cold without adding bulk or restricting movement.

Gorgeous jacket but not for very cold weather

Volcom Shrine Insulated Jacket (2019 Closeout) - burnt red
I was looking for a waterproof coat for very cold weather with room to layer. I'm 5'6" and 120 and a medium was too snug to wear with a sweater underneath. I walked outside in 28F and could feel the cold coming through right away. The cut is too trim for layering or I would have tried a large, like I said it's gorgeous, well-constructed with tons of awesome details, just not for very cold weather.

The perfect snowboarding jacket! A little expensive but worth it. Got a M and runs true to size.
