The 686 Smarty 3-in-1 Form jacket can be worn three ways thanks to a removable, integrated liner jacket. You can wear the shell alone as a breathable waterproof barrier, you can wear the insulated SMARTY® alone as a comfortable polyester puff jacket, or you can wear them together for utmost warmth and weather protection. InfiDRY® fabric provides waterproof and breathable protection and with fully taped Beamis® seams, the water is not finding its way in. Underarm vents quickly release heat and the adjustable powder skirt connects to your snow pants for secure integration. A strategic array of pockets keeps everything organized and accessible without cluttering the jacket's sleek style. Adaptable for changing conditions, the Smarty 3-in-1 Form jacket is a good investment.

Fully Taped - Having outerwear with fully taped seams means that on the inside of the jacket all the seams are covered in tape to provide the most effective waterproofing. It can be considered a key feature if you live in a wet climate or are planning on wearing the jacket during heavy rains. The downside is that due to the full taping there is less breathability than you'd experience with critically taped seams.
Polyester Fill - Polyester insulation may not be as warm or light as down, but it's far easier to clean and performs better in wet conditions. If cost is a concern or you live in a wet climate then polyester insulation might be your best option.
Synthetic insulation is measured in grams, so a jacket with a 80g rating simply means that a 1 meter by 1 meter piece of that particular jacket's insulation weighs 80 grams. The higher the rating, the warmer the outerwear.
Bemis® Seam Tape - All 686 taped seams feature Bemis® branded taping to further ensure quality workmanship and guaranteed waterproofing.
InfiDRY® Fabric Construction - 686 InfiDRY® fabric is perfect for daily use in a wide range of conditions. Specialty fabrics are laminated and bonded to a Polyurethane (PU) InfiDRY® membrane on the underside of the fabric. This membrane blocks water and snow from entering your garment, yet is hydrophilic on the inside - attracting any moisture inside your jacket (sweat) and moving it through to the outside of the fabric where it is able to evaporate, thus keeping you both dry and warm.
For further protection, the laminated fabric is then coated on the exterior with a water resistant DWR coating to repel snow and water from penetrating the fabric. This creates a superior fabric with a one-way portal for moisture that is virtually impenetrable from the outside, yet allows your body’s sweat to evaporate and pass through the fabric from the inside out creating a more comfortable riding experience.
SMARTY® Layering System - A world-renowned detachable lining system that allows you to wear the garment in 3 different ways:
1) Keep the liner attached to its shell component for extra insulation and warmth
2) Zip the liner out so you can chill comfortably indoors
3) Wear the shell garment by itself for warmer, transitional weather
Death Grip Adjustable Cuffs - 2-way adjustable cuff tabs worn around the thumb or wrist.
Jacket to Pant Interface - Connect your jacket to your pants for better protection from the elements.
DWR Coating - A Durable Water Resistant finish applied to the exterior of the garment.
