The Skeleton Key is a directional, all-mountain machine designed for intermediate and advanced riders who like a versatile board that can carve aggressively on the groomers and still get playful in the powder. The slight taper and swallow-tail shape compliment the Directional Camber Profile, helping the big, rocker nose float in deep pow, while the camber towards the back of the board ensures reliable edge hold and maximum response. Part of what makes this board so responsive and fun is the Squeezebox™ Core Profile, using strategically placed woods to create a reactive pressure zone between your feet that helps translate all your energy into bigger jumps and higher ollies. In addition, a twin freestyle feel has been accomplished using Burton's Balanced Freeride Technology, with a setback camber and sidecuts that are centered around your stance. The twin-feel of this directional setup means riding in the backcountry never felt more natural.
Directional Camber Profile - Burton's directional camber profile puts a camber profile at the back with rocker at the nose, allowing for a shorter and more maneuverable board. By moving the camber back the transition into rocker naturally lifts the board at the nose, providing you with a more floaty ride in powder and allowing you to maintain momentum and stability on those deep powder days.
Squeezebox™ Core Profile - Squeezebox is a patent-pending technology that transfers energy outward from under your feet, energizing the tip and tail for added snap when executing a turn and ollieing. Thinner core sections underfoot transitions to thicker, more powerful areas between and outside your feet for a more stable board that can be powered up and manipulated with less effort.
The Channel® - The Channel is an exclusive Burton mounting system using a central spine for virtually endless binding adjust-ability. Introduced in 2011, Burton has widened The Channel along with equipping it with the industry standard hardware for enhanced connection to your snowboard and further compatibility with all Burton bindings along with new compatibility for select competitor's bindings such as Union, Forum and many others (Channel-compatible disc may need to be purchased separately for some brands).
The Channel allows you to micro-adjust stance width, angle, and toe-to-heel centering with ease while at the same time dispersing energy for added rebound and snap.
Super Fly II™ 700g Core - Stronger and lighter woods target specific areas of the core to provide pop, strength, and reduced weight.
Dualzone™ EGD™ (Engineered Grain Direction) - The wood grain is positioned along the toe and heel edges on two continuous zones, perpendicular to the rest of the wood core, for consistent edge-hold and added strength.
Infinite™ Ride Construction - A Burton exclusive technology allows their boards to maximize pop and strength by overbuilding the board for you. Whether you choose to ride Spring-loaded, Rocker, or Camber, rest assured that with Infinite Ride your board will maintain its flex, pop, and feel from the first day forward, season after season.
FSC™ Certified - Lighter stronger, and more sustainable with full FSC™ Certification, Burton's cores are rated in Gs to measure the cores weight so you can see exactly how light the board's core is.
Triax Fiberglass - Versatile flex and response for everything from mini to mega shred
Sintered WFO Base - Infusing a specially formulated wax deep into the pores of this extra-absorbent, high-density sintered material results in an ultra-durable base that stays "Wide F!#@ing Open" all season in any condition.
Transworld Good Wood Award Winner - Selected as a Good Wood winner by Transworld Magazine - chosen for quality snowboard construction and rideability.
Pro-Tip™ - A tapered tip and tail thickness that reduces swing weight for easier mobility.
Balanced Freeride Geometry - Balanced Freeride Geometry ends the debate between directional or twin board shapes with setback camber and sidecuts that are centered on your stance to create a twin freestyle feel when riding flat base. On edge it turns tight and quick with the float and prowess expected from a directional deck.
Super Sap® Epoxy - Resin formulated with bio-based materials, reducing the carbon footprint by 50% over conventional petroleum-based epoxies. Less oil consumption means even less of a carbon footprint per board.
