Upon first glance, these may look more like work boots, but the team at Emerica have a few tricks up their sleeves and collaborated with Reserve to create a heavy duty and fully skate-able boot. These, like the original Shifter skate shoes, were designed with help from the one and only Heath Kirchart. His skate skills and style blend to make this a highly functional skate boot. The cupsole construction paired with a G6 polyurethane insole absorb impact and add comfort. The leather upper gives these boots their dressed up vibe and was chosen by Heath himself.

  • Cupsole
Primary Upper Materials
  • Leather
  • G6 Insole
  • Triangle Tread
  • Gusset Tongue

Cupsole - Cupsoles are durable, well-cushioned and provide the best impact protection against hard landings. The sole consists of a single rubber layer, reinforced with glue then stitched to the upper. Cupsoles generally last longer than vulcanized soles, but don't provide as much flexibility and board feel right out of the box.

G6 Insole - A lightweight, high-rebound foam cushion insole to help absorb impacts from hard landings.

Triangle Tread - Emerica's Triangle Tread pattern provides maximum grip for more confident skating.

Gusset Tongue - Elastic gussets connect the tongue and the midsole, giving you a snug fit and keeping your tongue in place.

Emerica Shifter High X Reserve Skate Shoes - black/black/gum
The leather and liner are really good quality and makes for a comfy boot. This version of the shifter is also comfier than the old one, but also alot less like an actual motorcycle boot. Looks decent and skates great, but it lost its essence of a skateable motorcycle boot and feels and looks more like a leather skateshoe now. Still worth it though.

True to size. Look incredible, but they are a bit different from the picture. No heel pull tab on my pair and the leather is more the soft polished kind than the textured kind that appears to be in the Tactics photo. I actually prefer not to have the pull tab, it looks cleaner without it. The insole is very comfortable and has great arch support. The outsole is really grippy and the boot does have great board feel, so you could totally skate them if you don't mind messing up $120 boots. Big improvement from the original shifter. Love the slim, sleek design and pointy toe.
