Ride Style

Commuter - Commuter boards cover a wide range. Whether you're cruising to the store on a beverage run or crossing from suburbs to downtown and back on the daily, commuting boards are made to make your life a little easier and a lot more fun.

Shorter boards in this category make up the cruising department. Some have functional kicktails, but they're still made to fit large wheels so you won't get hung up on any rocks. Some are even small enough they can fit in lockers or under a work desk.

Longer boards are made for distance skaters. With features like rocker, flex, and anything to lower your center of gravity, commuting boards make skating feel like you have your own cloud underfoot. These boards are really great for beginners and experienced riders alike.

Never make the boring mistake of walking again, get your commute on.

Freeride - Much of skateboarding has been created by people who push the envelope on what is thought to be possible. Freeride is a direct result of this. Slide pucks and buttery wheels are your best friends once you have freeride on your mind. Often featuring concave that creates pockets for your feet and shorter wheelbases, freeride boards are meant to make power slides as natural as your choice to skate.

Freestyle - Maybe you have board dancing goals or maybe you'll love double kicks for the added ability to do manuals and flip tricks. Freestyle is all about expression and the length of these boards gives you freedom of movement to express your creativity on a board.

Mounting Style

Drop Through - Drop Through boards lower your center of gravity, giving you a more responsive and stable ride. Trucks are mounted through the board and truck bases will sit either flush or slightly above the deck surface. Great for high speed assaults or even cruising around town to your local watering hole.

Note: If assembling yourself, you'll first need to remove your longboard truck hanger from its base by unscrewing the kingpin. Once separated, reassemble the trucks through the mounting area (sandwiching the board between the hanger/base of the truck), then tighten the kingpin nuts and you're ready to roll.

Deck Profile

Camber - Camber gives you a charged feeling underfoot and better leverage for turns. Camber boards can feel a bit more like a spring at first, but any rider will appreciate how this makes the board responsive. Camber boards are especially fun for commuter decks, freestyle, and cruisers where you'll be carving a lot.

Deck Shape

Symmetrical - Symmetrical boards are ideal for freeride and freestyle. The freeride pros will tell you that figuring out how to come out of a slide switch is not an easy task and having a symmetrical deck underfoot will help you speed through the learning curve to the top of the class. Freestyle skaters love their double kicks and reliable symmetrical boards to land flip tricks. So if these pursuits sound like your style, check out symmetrical boards.

Deck Features

Double Kicks - With a kicktail at the nose and tail of the board ollies and flip tricks will become part of your arsenal. With symmetrical nose and tail kicks you are sure to enjoy switch riding as well. Double kicks are most often found on freestyle boards, but can add versatility to any deck.

Cutouts - With big wheels you need lots of room to carve and dig into turns, cutouts around the wheels provide the extra space required to prevent wheelbite while cutouts for your trucks appear on drop through decks so you can ride closer to the ground.

Mild Concave - With the right concave underfoot you'll feel you can skate anything. Concavity can be seen if you look at a board straight down the nose to the tail. Mild concave shows as a slight rise towards the edges of the deck giving your feet plenty of places to lock in. Choosing the right concave can be tough because it's all personal preference, but you can't go wrong if you don't already have a preference.

Deck Features

Dervish Sama Construction - Camber + Concave + Kick

Epoxy and Tri-axial fiberglass sandwich a vert-lam bamboo core, pressed into concave and convex cambers for liveliness, responsiveness and high energy potential.

DropThru cutouts are CNC milled for precision.

Flex Options

Dervish Sama Flex 1 (170-250+ lbs) - Keep in mind that a softer flex pattern will give you more control and tighter turns at slower speeds and make it easier to slide, but tends to lose stability slightly at higher speeds.

Stiffer flex means more energy potential, more stability at higher speeds, and makes air moves easier, but will not be as forgiving and lively when cruising.

Dervish Sama Flex 2 (100-185+ lbs) - Keep in mind that a softer flex pattern will give you more control and tighter turns at slower speeds and make it easier to slide, but tends to lose stability slightly at higher speeds.

Stiffer flex means more energy potential, more stability at higher speeds, and makes air moves easier, but will not be as forgiving and lively when cruising.

Grip

Custom Pre-Grip - This board comes pre-gripped from Loaded with an aggressive black griptape designed to provide maximum coverage while allowing the board to flex naturally, providing enhanced traction and control for sliding and pumping, as well as creating a serious "lock-in" on the nose and tail.

Details

Nose and Tail Kicks - Nose and Tail Kicks are designed to provide excellent leverage for slides and maneuverability. They extend from the standing platform at a relatively shallow angle to generate a quick and well balanced pop.

Camber - A cambered platform provides a lively, flowing ride. Press your weight into a turn to preload the deck's curvature, release to feel the board snap back with positive energy return.

Concave - Concave allows solid and quick transitions from rail to rail while pumping, carving, and slashing. Aggressive enough for spirited performance riding, yet comfortable enough for the casual commute or boogie through town.

Symmetrical Shape - Designed for maximum functionality and versatility. A symmetrical shape means the board has no designated front or back. This allows the deck to ride equally well forwards or backwards and is preferred for switch riding.
