Overview
The Plain Jane Keyframe wheels from OJ III are soft cruiser wheels in the beloved 87a Keyframe formula with just one small logo on the side. Smooth and fast rolling over rough surfaces, let's just say you won't be pushing much.

87a - A harder soft wheel great for cruising, sliding or filming lines, as they're a bit faster than some of the softer varieties.

Most urethane skate wheels generally range from 75a-101a, the numbers increase with the hardness of the wheel.

Wheel Profile

You may notice a discrepancy between what we designate a wide, standard or narrow and what the brands do. This classification is our opinion based on years of skating, as well as looking at the profile of the wheel as it compares to what we believe is a standard profile. You just have to trust us on this.

Standard - Your classic wheel shape, it's not built to excel in specific scenarios like a narrow or wide wheel, but it's appropriate for most situations. If you're new to skating this is where you want to start.

Surface Type

Smooth - Smooth wheels have a shiny coating on their surface that is commonly referred to as its skin or mold release. Smooth wheels are generally preferred for their grip and traction.

OJ Plain Jane Keyframe Skateboard Wheels - white/green (87a)
It came with some extra material on the blank side of the wheel, but I just sanded it off. They're really smooth, but also are hard enough to not squish out when you land on them. Was pleasantly surprised that were as good. Get em' and keep on rollin'

Quiet, Smooth, Fast and Long Lasting!

OJ Plain Jane Keyframe Skateboard Wheels
I have been riding these and Spitfire 80HD's to see which faired better. With these I went a bit farther between pushes, went slightly faster and they lasted a lot longer! With the 80HD's I could ruin a wheel with one single unlucky rock/pebble strike. The Keyframes were a lot more durable and took abuse better. They have well made precision cores so make sure you use bearing spacers and they'll spin with no resistance at all. They're soft enough to be quiet and fast but hard enough not to mush out and fall apart when riding over rough terrain on a regular basis. They do slide as well when you're at speed and actually put a little "power" into your power-slide. The only negative is that small lip of excess urethane they still have on them from the mold, I wish OJ would grind that off before packaging them. It does wear off after a bit though so it doesn't affect wheel performance. Tactics has the best price on them too!

OJ Plain Jane Keyframe Skateboard Wheels - white/white (87a)
So far, so good. Handles mixed surfaces really well. Soft enough to be forgiving but not too soft. Great durometer when you don't want rock hard street wheels but don't want marshmallows either. Can't yet comment on long term performance or wear.

Would I be able to Power Slide on these?
Answered by James D (Tactics Employee) on 11/29/2016
These will not be the easiest to power slide on, generally you want a harder wheel to slide. These are fairly grippy.
