Gilbert Crockett is an all-terrain terrorizer, so it's fitting that the second incarnation of his signature shoe is equipped to handle most anything you throw at it. Vans Wafflecup Construction and superior cushioning combine to provide a comfortable ride that can help withstand the biggest of impacts, and allow you to roll away in one piece. This shoe is the perfect marriage of classic style, paying homage to legendary Van's shoes of the past, and modern technology focused on board feel and cushioning.

Vulcanized - “Vulc” shoes are light, flexible and break in quickly. These don't provide as much foot protection as cupsoles, but they are preferred if you’re looking for good board feel in a shoe with less weight and bulk.

Cupsole - Durable and shock-absorbing to provide the best impact protection against hard landings. Cupsoles generally last longer than a vulcanized sole but don't provide as much flexibility and board feel right out of the box.

PopCush™ - Vans' PopCush insoles snap back and won't pack! This proprietary foam compound was meticulously tuned and tested for impact protection, superior cushioning, and custom energy return. This upgraded foam performs better than Vans' UltraCush™ compound for all types of skating so you can skate longer and go harder than ever before.

Wafflecup™ Construction - A vulcanized cupsole? YES. This revolutionary construction offers skaters the support of a cupsole with the board feel of a vulcanized shoe.

Molded Heel Pocket Insert - Anatomically molded heel cup inserts are shaped to lock heels in place without the need for bulky foam padding.

Duracap - Developed and tested to withstand the abuse of the Vans pro skateboarding team; reinforcement is provided through rubber underlays in the toebox and ollie-area for lasting durability to save you time and money.

Vans Gilbert Crockett Pro 2 Skate Shoes - alpine/white
I find Crockett's toe-box perfect for me. Additionally, the stitch design goes around the perimeter, instead of across the top. Some other styles, the shoe feels good at first but the cross stitching ends up causing a weird feel on the top of my feet (Old Skool Pro, I'm talking to you!) Crockett's feel great out of the box. While the sole is a bit stiff, I'm mostly on a wide, flat deck for surf training so it doesn't take much to get them ride ready.

Berle's are my second favorite and have similar similar toe-area feel. Two things where the Crockett's beat Berle's are the removable bed and that little rocks don't stick in the Crockett tread like Berles...tread feels great on a board but the little rocks tear up my wood floors if I don't remember to pick out all the small rocks.

Vans Gilbert Crockett Pro 2 Skate Shoes
I got the Vans Crockett Pro 2 (Beech color) or dark olive color. I usually wear 8.5 but I bought the 9 size and fits just right. Chose 9 because toe area seemed more narrow. Felt stiff at first but walked over to CVS to get some stuff (15 min walk) and shoes started to feel more confortable. Shoelace length is just right. I hate shoe companies that have super long shoe laces where it touches the ground and gets untied due to its length.
Color is tricky. I wanted to get something that was tan or coyote brown to match my tactical molle patches and duty belt. When it came, I was like, "oh wait a minute, this is like green". So its more like a dark olive color"
Tactics was super fast. It came like in 4 days. Thanks for the stickers, Tactics is the best !

Would you say they fit more wide or narrow?
Answered by Graig A (Tactics Employee) on 8/24/2017
These are leaning more towards the narrow side, similar to an era pro or authentic.

How is the boardfeel? Im used to vulcanized shoes
Answered by Graig A (Tactics Employee) on 7/13/2017
They will have a little less board feel than a standard vulc due to the Waffle Cup sole that has both vulc wrap and cupsole. They still have pretty good board feel but do take a little extra time to break in.
