Vans Skate Slip-On Shoes
First made in 1977, the Vans Slip-on gained popularity quickly amongst skateboarding culture. As times progressed Vans has made a fully redesigned shoe to keep up with the needs of skateboarders. Presenting the Vans Skate Slip-On, this shoe is apart of "Vans Skate Classics line" of footwear. These are the most iconic skate shoes created by Vans but revamped to fit the needs of modern day skateboarding. These shoes integrate tongue straps for a snug fit, DURACAP™ underlay for durability, SickStick™ a rubber compound used to make a grippy outsole, and internal heel shanks to deliver more board feel in order to create a classic yet modern skate shoe.
Vulcanized - “Vulc” shoes are light, flexible and break in quickly. These don't provide as much foot protection as cupsoles, but they are preferred if you’re looking for good board feel in a shoe with less weight and bulk.
PopCush™ - Vans' PopCush insoles snap back and won't pack! This proprietary foam compound was meticulously tuned and tested for impact protection, superior cushioning, and custom energy return. This upgraded foam performs better than Vans' UltraCush™ compound for all types of skating so you can skate longer and go harder than ever before.
Duracap™ - Developed and tested to withstand the abuse of the Vans pro skateboarding team; reinforcement is provided through rubber underlays in the toebox and ollie-area for lasting durability to save you time and money.
SickStick™ - Taking inspiration from Vans' beloved original gum rubber formula, the SickStick formula is the grippiest and the stickiest gum sole in Vans history. Extensively tested by Vans' team riders, the formula is uniquely calibrated to deliver enhanced grip and durability, and also make a firm bind to the foxing tape, so you can be in complete control of your board.
The vulc on these to me looks cleaner and more aesthetically pleasing as well as the black/white checker tag.
The red was distracting on the previous
These do fit tighter at the toe due to the inner toe cap so size a half size up or be like me and actually buy your real shoe size.
I used to just buy a half size down bc I thought a tight shoe would be better but these days I use my true size given to me by a shoe salesman.
I broke mine in and have skated them some but really just use these for casual wear.
Still wish they were a bit wider at the toe box but it’s a slip on.
**I will note these DONT fly off when doing flip tricks. The tighter heel cup is helpful for that and the canvas back is snug but plush.
Very comfy back there as long as you have a thin-regular size heel.
***I do wish vans used black or a different color insole bc it does start to look a bit eww but that’s ok.
These are cheaper than Nike sb Shane’s and the sole just feels way more solid.
I like a classic silhouette with little to no logos and gimmicks. These are great!
