Manastash Monster 700 Jacket - red
I bought the Manastash Monster 700 Jacket from Tactics and overall its a warm, comfortable puffer with a nice technical but wearable look. The 3M Thinsulate Featherless FL700 insulation does a great job trapping heat without feeling stiff, and I like that its animal-free. The jacket has a good hood, a ton of pocket/storage options, and the outer fabric feels comfortable and not overly shiny.
The downside: I had a stitching failure/unraveling on the left pocket panel seam when it arrived. Its fixable (Im repairing it with polyester thread since the jacket is sold out), but at this price point I didnt expect to have to do any seam work. Additionally, the placement of the velcro on the front closure got stuck on my sweater throughout the day, which can get seriously annoying.
US vs Japan version note (important): My jacket appears to be a US-market 24 spec (US only size tags, product code 792-4252007) with a polyester shell and Featherless FL700 insulation. Online youll also see Monster 700 V2 / Ver.2 / 2.0 versions that list different materials/features, often a nylon ripstop shell, Thinsulate Isolant 700, and sometimes removable/internal shoulder straps... so buyers should double-check which version theyre looking at.
Bottom line: If you want a very warm, feature-heavy winter jacket, this one delivers. Just be aware that I had pocket seam stitching issues, and there are multiple Monster 700 variants floating around online with different specs for US vs Japan market variants (look for US and Japanese sizes listed on the same size tag to help identify the Japan release version).
