Providing the best of both worlds through Wafflecup Construction, these shoes feature Vans' hybrid sole technology to give you the board feel of a vulc shoe with the stability and impact protection of a cupsole. Vans upped the ante with their LuxLiner technology allowing you to skate in comfort for longer thanks to its free floating design. By moving independently from the exterior you'll enjoy less chafing and irritation with increased airflow. All of this combines to create a shoe that will stand up to the abuse you put it through while leaving your feet appreciative of your well thought out decision.
Vulcanized - “Vulc” shoes are light, flexible and break in quickly. The sole consists of several layers of rubber, glued together then attached to the upper with rubber foxing tape. Vulcanized soles don’t provide as much foot protection or support as cupsoles, but they are preferred if you’re looking for good board feel in a shoe with less weight and bulk.
Cupsole - Cupsoles are durable, well-cushioned and provide the best impact protection against hard landings. The sole consists of a single rubber layer, reinforced with glue then stitched to the upper. Cupsoles generally last longer than vulcanized soles, but don't provide as much flexibility and board feel right out of the box.
Original Waffle Outsole - Back in '66 Paul van Doren made the first soles of his new shoes twice as thick so they would wear longer. That decision ended up defining the company when the world's first skateboarders discovered how Vans' Waffle Outsole let them feel their board while staying firmly connected to it.
Wafflecup Construction - Vans’ revolutionary Wafflecup construction offers today’s skateboarders the support of a cupsole without sacrificing any of the grip and board feel of a traditional vulcanized shoe.
First, the upper is stitched together, then the soft, uncured rubber is wrapped around the upper.
Next the gum rubber vans cupsole is fitted to the uncured rubber. After that the toe bumper is wrapped around the "wafflecup".
Finally the shoe is then heated in the vulcanizing oven until it's fully cured and bonded, just like a traditional vulcanized shoe. End result: cupsole support, vulc feel.
LuxLiner Bootie Construction - This advanced liner construction improves the comfort and fit by enabling the shoe to conform and move with the shape of the foot. This free-floating liner is an extension of the tongue. It's hidden under the front surface of the shoe and is able to move independently from the outer shell.
This system increases airflow, breathability and reduces any chance of hot spots or pinching in the toe box.
Duracap - Vans shoes with Duracap feature reinforced rubber underlays in the areas where your shoes wear out the fastest. Durcap was developed and tested to withstand the abuse of the Vans pro skateboarding team, and gives you added durability even if you skate daily.
Reverse Waffle Lug Tread - Reverse Waffle Lug tread pattern is grippy and tough for wherever you’re trying to get to.
UltraCush™ Lite - Vans' UltraCush™ Lite low-profile foam sockliner is ultralight and anatomically contoured for quick, responsive cushioning, providing a natural fit and ride.
