This toasty puffy jacket offers the incredible warmth of down insulation with 650+ fill power (which is about as toasty as it gets). Wear it as a mid-layer under your favorite shell jacket, or wear it on its own because the outer layer is coated with a DWR finish to keep you dry in the snow and light rain, and the best part is it all packs down into its own little stuff sack for convenient storage when not in use.
Down - Down is the lightest and warmest option when it comes to outerwear insulation, the only drawbacks with down is it doesn't perform well in wet conditions and it's more expensive. Synthetics will dry faster than down and are easier to clean, but can't beat down when it comes to performing in very cold and dry weather.
Synthetic insulation is measured in grams, so a jacket with a 80g rating simply means that a 1 meter by 1 meter piece of that particular jacket's insulation weighs 80 grams. The higher the rating, the warmer the jacket.
A fill power rating measures the number of cubic inches that one ounce of that particular down will occupy, so a jacket with a 800 fill power rating will be warmer than a jacket with a fill power rating of 500.
Insulated - Roomy, rugged fit for outdoor sports and leisure. Hem hits 4-5” below waist.
Water Resistant Fabric - A DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish allows fabric to shed moisture and prevents saturation to keep you warmer. DWR also helps repel oils and stains which can affect the fabric's breathability. Clothing with a DWR finish is a must in snowy or wet conditions.
