Overview
Forest Bailey treats mountains like playgrounds and made his park board with a playful asymmetrical core. There is Aspen wood which is light and shock resistant combined with Columbian Gold known for it's strength and pop in a pattern that offers more flex on the heelside edge. This means it's easier to carve and the board will remain strong and lively longer while absorbing chatter. If you want to work towards a creative park riding style like Forest Bailey's, this board will help you out. Its Camber C3 Banana technology is shaped for improved carving, it has a tough topsheet and base to support your landings and the UHMW sidewalls will ensure it can take a few hits and scrapes without damaging the core. Featuring his own artwork, this setup will have you begging your friends to stick around for the night session as you won't want to stop all the jibbery. Yeah, jibbery isn't a real word, but it is in this Head Space.

Key Features

C3 Camber/Banana Rocker Profile - Trapezoidal camber enhanced with Banana Tech for aggressive new traditionalists and weight lifters. Focuses pressure between your feet for carving, edge grip on ice. This profile is the most like traditional camber boards.

Asym Sidecut: Balance Through Asymmetry - Asymmetric Sidecuts and construction balance the different turning mechanics required for heel-side and toe-side turns. Your body is asymmetric, which means your snowboard should also be asymmetric. Ride better and have more fun through asymmetry!

Toe Side: More finesse through your toes and precise fingertip like edge control. Increased angle of edge attack can be achieved through cumulative articulation of the toe, ankle and knee joints. Essentially: balance.

Heel Side: More power through the heels. A lower angle of edge attack and more power can be achieved due to natural joint mechanics, there is a straight line from the heel up through your leg to the strongest muscles and body mass. Essentially: stomp.

Asym Level 1 - You'll still feel that heelside turns are easier, but it won't define your experience. With level 1 Asymmetrical technology the core wood used on the heelside of the board is a touch softer making your carves smoother. The sidecut is also a bit deeper on the heelside edge which is what you'll notice right away, you'll be working less to transition to your heels which translates to a more natural feeling as you connect your turns.

Magne-Traction Serrated Edges - Replaces the “two contact point” ski theory that conventional skis and snowboards have. Gnu's Magne-Traction boards have seven! Seven is more than two. With Magne-Traction, when your two outside contact points lose grip, you’ve still got five more to take over, which means you won’t fall as much. Control and turn initiation comes from under your feet, not a foot and a half to either side of your feet. Better edge hold. Climbs icy pipes! Turns ice into powder and rides like a skateboard!

Mervin Made: EcoUNREAL Manufacturing - All Gnu and Lib Tech snowboards are handcrafted by Mervin Manufacturing in the USA near Canada!

Mervin has been environmentally aware from the beginning for more than 25 years!

Select boards use non-petroleum based bio-plastics made from castor beans.

No cancer-causing toxic automotive lacquer clearcoats.

Soy-based elastomer sidewalls instead of toxic ABS.

Made using renewable forest products for all snowboard cores. Fast growing trees have long fibers and natural pop. Wood is nature's fiberglass!

Made with only low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) epoxy resin systems. Mervin's resin doesn't stink or make you dizzy.

Select boards use basalt fiber laminates, which is additive-free and less toxic than conventional fiberglass.

Mervin uses water-cleansed grinding systems to minimize airborne particulate levels.

The Mervin Factory has 2700% air replacement ventilation systems.

All wood sawdust is recycled as soil additive, plus scrap wood is donated to a local Mood Wood company that packages it as kindling and resells it.

All scrap plastics (base cutouts, etc) are recycled and are then reground and used to make new materials.

Water-based solvents used for cleansing (instead of petrochemical-based solvents).

Canola-based biodiesel heats the Mervin factory and is a renewable resource.

Handbuilt in the USA - Every Gnu is handmade by snowboarders with jobs in the USA.

Core

G1 Asymmetrical ACG Core - Balanced, light, sustainable, FSC certified, strong, and poppy this core is made from Aspen and Columbian Gold Alloy. It's slightly less dense on the heelside of the board, working with the way your body is built to make it feel more natural and even when you are riding.

Laminates

Bi-Axial Glass - 2-way fiber orientation. Engineered to make the difficult easy.

Tri-Axial Glass - 3-way fiber orientation. Engineered to make the difficult even easier.

Base

Eco Sublimated Co-Sintered Base - Fast, tough, and holds wax so your days in the park or out in a more urban environment stay lit from the first trick to the last. Less time adding wax or doing repairs means more time snowboarding, and that's all anyone really wants, right?

The Hype

Transworld Good Wood Award Winner - Selected as a Good Wood winner by Transworld Magazine - chosen for quality snowboard construction and rideability.

Details

Eco-Sub PBT Top Sheet - Sounds technical right? It just means the top sheet is made from sublimated polyester material that's great for vibrant yet durable graphics, which means a long lasting image. When the graphics are as good as Gnu's you'll be glad you have it.

UHMW External Sidewalls - Ultra High Molecular Weight exterior sidewalls made from soy-based elastomer are laminated to five internal wood layers for totally bombproof sidewalls. Fast, rugged, hard, waterproof.

1 Year Warranty - Covered under manufacturer warranty for 1 year from the time of purchase. Warranty includes structural defects only and DOES NOT cover impact damage, abuse, misuse or normal wear and tear expected from aggressive riding.

Sorry folks, but bashing your board on a rock or rail does not qualify as a "manufacturer's defect" and will not be honored.

Is this asymmetric board for regular or goofy?
Answered by James D (Tactics Employee) on 2/16/2017
This is actually an Asymmetrical twin, meaning you can ride it with either stance. You just need to make sure your heels are on the correct side, which will be marked on the deck.

What bindings would you recommend with this board? I'm an intermediate to advance boarder wanting to enjoy all mountain.
Answered by Danny M (Tactics Employee) on 2/7/2017
I would definitely recommend the Union Force Bindings or the Burton Genesis bindings, both would be great for all mountain on that board!
