The Vans AV Rapidweld Pro skate shoes offer the glove-like fit of a Luxliner interior wrapped in a stitchless RapidWeld shell to dramatically improve flexibility and response. Vulcanized - “Vulc” shoes are light, flexible and break in quickly. The sole consists of several layers of rubber, glued together then attached to the upper with rubber foxing tape. Vulcanized soles don’t provide as much foot protection or support as cupsoles, but they are preferred if you’re looking for good board feel in a shoe with less weight and bulk.
Original Waffle Outsole - Back in '66 Paul van Doren made the first soles of his new shoes twice as thick so they would wear longer. That decision ended up defining the company when the world's first skateboarders discovered how Vans' Waffle Outsole let them feel their board while staying firmly connected to it.
Pro VULC Construction - For intuitive control, fifty years of proven Vans professional vulcanized natural gum rubber outsole constructions deliver the ultimate in board feel, flex and traction.
LuxLiner Bootie Construction - This advanced liner construction improves the comfort and fit by enabling the shoe to conform and move with the shape of the foot. This free-floating liner is an extension of the tongue. It's hidden under the front surface of the shoe and is able to move independently from the outer shell.
This system increases airflow, breathability and reduces any chance of hot spots or pinching in the toe box.
Duracap - Vans shoes with Duracap feature reinforced rubber underlays in the areas where your shoes wear out the fastest. Durcap was developed and tested to withstand the abuse of the Vans pro skateboarding team, and gives you added durability even if you skate daily.
RapidWeld - This progressive upper panel construction replaces the need for conventional stitching. This process utilizes a thin film between panels that bonds them together when pressed and heated.
This creates an extremely strong bond between the panels which is more durable, lighterweight, and more flexible than conventional stitching.
UltraCush™ HD - Vans' polyurethane-based UltraCush™ HD sockliner keeps the foot close to the board yet won't pack out over time, providing the highest level of impact cushioning.
