Overview

The Race Reds skateboard bearings from Bones Bearings have been newly upgraded with higher quality bearing steel and precision ground, built-in spacers to ensure perfect spacing between the bearings. The precision ground extended race eliminates the need for speed washers by improving bearing alignment when the axle nut is tightened. Bones also added a groove on the inside of the bearings' inner race that allows you to use the Bones Bearing tool to easily insert and remove the bearing, even on hub wheels.

Skate Ratedâ„¢ - Skate Rated bearings are engineered and tested by Bones Wheels to withstand the high impacts of hard landings and the high side loads of turning. These bearings roll faster and last longer than bearings that use the ABEC rating system. To give Skate Rated bearings an ABEC rating would ignore all the improvements Bones has made over the industry standard. Skate Rated bearings are specifically designed for skateboarding, not electric motors.

Built-in Spacers - Built-in spacers allow you to tighten the axle all the way to ensure the bearings stay parallel in the wheel.

Smooth, clean and just the right sound... I always put a speed ring on each inboard hanger (some trucks need them)... But there is no need for speed rings with these bearings.

The whole point of these bearings is so you can tighten the axle nut all the way, as it is with all bearings when you use spacers (as you always should). If your wheel doesn't free spin when tightened all they way that's on the wheel manufacturer for being lazy and not adhering to standards, get different wheels. I tighten these all the way down on my Keyframes and they free spin perfectly! Fast, quiet and with no damaging play left in the wheel. Do not take the advice of the "Tactics Employee" below who says you should always leave some play in the wheels. That advice is a great way to cause uneven wheel wear, bearing seizure and overall slowness. It will lead to having to buy bearings more frequently as well. I see way too much bad info on the Q&A section for products on Tactics.

When I install my bones race reds. I just want to make sure I don't need to place speed washers?? And I can tighten the bolt all the way to the bearing?
Answered by Danny M (Tactics Employee) on 2/27/2017
Yes, these bearing will be fine to put in without the washers, but I would not tighten the nut all the way to the bearing. I always recommend leaving a small amount of space so that the nut isn't tightened all the way down on the bearing.
